Jane,
Is this still an issue for you. I cannot say I've experienced this, since I
have had XChat since Warty, and the upgrades have never replaced the XChat
panel icon with the xchat-gnome variant.
If this is not a bug, could you please let us know so we can close this old
one? Thank you for reporting this :)
