Ubuntu 8.04/8.10 - previous releases worked.
Burning a CD (with no-matter-what application) does not work, when a
gnome session is active:
- All graphical frontends: burning starts, and hangs after a few MB with no
error messages at all, burner does not spin down, and application must be
killed (even then, burner does not spin down, no eject possible, reboot
required)
- Commandline burning: works with low speeds as long as gnome session is not
running, or when gnome session is running, but vt7 not active. Breaks
immediately when switching to vt7 - same symptoms as above.
- Commandline burning in recovery mode: works flawlessly at all speeds.
I suspect gnome-volume-manager to be breaking the burn by accessing the
drive while recording. (?)
