I just did an 'apt-get update && apt-get upgrade' and now ekiga works for me, at least as far as the echo test is concerned. I have pulse-audio configured, in ekiga audio-device setting is all set to 'Default'. This was with a normal headset, I still need to test my USB-headset and then make a proper telephone call. But looking good so far ...
