Public bug reported: The http_proxy environment variable seems to be set automatically by "i don't know what" when I launch a Gnome Terminal, to what seems to be gnome proxy settings.
It's a pretty good idea but my proxy is authenticated, and the http_proxy does not contains authentication informations. The http_proxy is like http://server:port instead of http://user:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:port It's probably more secure but really annoying because a lot of command like apt or wget expect the authentication informations to be in http_proxy. So, these command fails. This automatical setting is probably a good idea for not authenticated proxies, but really annoying for authenticated ones. So, it will be probably better to not setting this variable when authentication parameters are set. ** Affects: control-center (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed -- http_proxy environment variable automatically set in dapper https://launchpad.net/bugs/39254 -- desktop-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
