This is not correct. Upstream reports that this bug is fixed only for images, because Nautilus has an internal fast-path for images. This Ubuntu report, instead, is about thumbnails (as generated by thumbnailers). For thumbnails, the bug is not fixed.
You can verify it by using a latest Ubuntu, zooming a file view as much as you want, and look for instance at a PDF preview.
