Could you please attach your /var/lib/dpkg/status and /var/log/dpkg.log
files?
Could you please then run (in a terminal):
$ sudo apt-get install virtualbox --simulate
and attach the output?
What method did you used to install ? Add/remove? Synaptic? Terminal
with apt-get? Something else?
