There is thousand of bugs opened every week and hundred fixed every week
too but it's simply not possible to backport every single change to
stable versions for several reasons:

- backporting changes require lot of work to make sure the changes fix the
issue without creating other ones, having things not working is one thing but
breaking things which used to work is an another one, stable series get only
selected updates usually to fix security issues or work stoppers
- the team working on those updates is small and overworked and people do what
they can
- the focus is on the next version by now (otherwise the team would spend time
backporting changes to jaunty and not fix bugs in karmic which would mean
karmic will have poor quality, the team would have to spend extra time on
karmic updates next cycle and it would create a low quality cycles for all new
versions)

Sorry that every issue can't be fixed in the stable version but you are
welcome to try karmic or work on a ppa version working this issue though
