I am able to reproduce this on a Maverick amd64 system running a 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor (by running the command "yelp ghelp:user- guide" -- I cannot try running yelp with no arguments, since this system is affected by Bug 433504). The CPU spikes to 100% for at least 4 seconds.
