In my case - uninstalling all proprietary NVidia drivers solved the problem (Dell XPS M1530) but have to put up with rather crappy graphic; SMPlayer doesn't work and launcher & icons pretty big (it can be fixed though) - but at least system shuts down no problem and it was the aim. We just have to be patiens i suppose and wait for a final solution.
