This is now the third revision of the change (3.4.3-1ubuntu1 + 3.4.3-1ubuntu2 + this) and by identifying that this also needs to go to -devel I wonder if you should not also use the chance to submit the outstanding Delta to Debian. That will help them directly and mid-term ease maintenance. 3.4.3-1ubuntu2 said "Cherry-pick patch ..." but didn't mention from where - will this be in next upstream and that way come to Debian? If so, you might still help by reminding them to use the purge mechanism to get rid of the old on-disk config.
