I can see it is hung in the function XIfEvent() which is only called
from one place. It is a blocking function waiting for the Xwayland
server, but the Xwayland server already crashed a couple of minutes
beforehand:

[189178.139718] ald-ruhn gnome-shell[153779]: GNOME Shell crashed with signal 5
So there are two bugs:
1. Xwayland crashed
2. Mutter waits forever if Xwayland has already crashed.
