You have been subscribed to a public bug:
when i start the screensaver i get a sudden logout to gdm.
if i put in gconf the screensaver key to null i can open the gnome-screensaver
config tool.
if i choose one screensaver in the config tool then the system crashes again.
i had to disable the screensaver
the xsession-errors output is:
(gnome-screensaver:5087): gnome-screensaver-WARNING **: Unknown option
--sm-client-id
this startde to hapen in the last days, problably after an update
