The package hint is most probably wrong. I entered "gnome", not knowing which gnome package causes the problem. Launchpad turned this into "meta-gnome2". I do not know why. (A Launchpad bug, perhaps?) I do not have a package named "meta-gnome2" installed on my system. Or a package called "gnome2".
