Well, this is just bullshit. You can a) commit a patch for others to test - that is still useful, or b) just install automake-1.7 for yourself. It is not that hard, really, as has been shown in this thread repeatedly: ./configure; make; make install or c) approach the suse people and ask them how they build their gtk package without automake-1.7 > Contribute a automake 1.9 patch in a new bug.
