Yeah, I fully agree here. One thing we have seen with gio is that it
is fine to work on something in your own little branch, and give talks
about it, etc, etc, but real review and feedback only happens when the
new stuff actually appears on the trunk, and people are forced to deal
with it.

The consequence of this is that the 6 month release cycle is a bit
tight to go all the way from "getting api feedback" to "stable without
any end-user visible regressions"...
