As someone who tried using rss-glib before, the problem with it is that it is a wrapper around libmrss which fails to parse Atom correctly. Planet feeds contain multiple <link>s but libmrss simply takes the first (or was it last, I can't recall) link, which isn't at all useful. feedparser ftw.
