Heya,
Here's the latest status report for the JDS stuff that has been sent
upstream. I've removed details of the proposed schedule because it'll
only embarrass me if we miserably fail to make it. I've also removed a
link to the big matrix that I'm compiling - it's a big StarOffice
project-manager type document, and thus not incredibly interesting :)
In summary, we're making some good progress, but it's proving to be a
bit slower than I thought.

Accomplishments
===============
Technical
o Laca and Glynn continued to work on cleaning up spec-files for
GNOME 2.10.
o Laca completed the final CVS merges of HEAD and gnome-2-10.
o All started thinking about getting the latest GNOME 2.12 code
onto HEAD.
o Damien wrote a script to check all the unused spec files, patches
and extra sources, so that we can remove all the fluff
o Laca removed all the extra i18n and documentation that have previously
been applied to JDS - most of this stuff is specific to GNOME 2.6, so
doesn't make sense to have it on more recent builds.
o All sat down and discussed the new development proposal. Everyone
seemed to be in agreement for this process long term, including
the Evolution and Mozilla folks. There was some concern from the
i18n and documentation people - more discussion required.
o Brian came up with a list of tasks for ARC involvement going forward.
o Narayana, Archana and Bala analyzed the state of Nautilus and GNOME
media, and came up with an action plan for those modules going
forward.
o Glynn went through the outstanding patches and removed the patches
that didn't make sense - there are now only 7 outstanding patches
remaining.
o Glynn started a discussion on desktop-ui about the changes we made
to JDS to get closer to the community code, and will continue to
track this from an ARC and UI perspective.
o Wipro dudes continued to report and fix outstanding bugs.
o Laca spent more time on the build tools for JDS, and getting them
ready for the opensolaris.org release.
o Laca and Glynn involved in some discussion about package repositories
and the long term plan for the companion CD.
o Glynn worked on pulling a rough schedule out of his ass for a possible
opensolaris.org launch date - obviously a number of blockers that
we'll have to overcome before we can make this date. Stay tuned ;)
Project Management
o Glynn worked on creating a component matrix, mapping out component
names,
versions, descriptions, sun contacts, Solaris package name,
responsible
party, and license. This will be useful for the export control due
diligence work.
o Glynn identified the proper Solaris legal contact, and started to
coordinate
with Dee for getting the next steps done.
Social
o All continue to monitor and contribute to threads on desktop-discuss,
opensolaris-discuss, and others.
Goals for next week
