I discovered some X resources containing this font: xrdb -query | grep -- "-dt-interface user-medium-r-normal-m" *DtEditor*textFontList: -dt-interface user-medium-r-normal-m*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*: *Font: -dt-interface user-medium-r-normal-m*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* *FontSet: -dt-interface user-medium-r-normal-m*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* *XmText*FontList: -dt-interface user-medium-r-normal-m*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*: *XmTextField*FontList: -dt-interface user-medium-r-normal-m*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*: *textFontList: -dt-interface user-medium-r-normal-m*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*: *userFont: -dt-interface user-medium-r-normal-m*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*:
maybe some cde relicts. After searching through the system I found these font aliases really exist in /usr/openwin/lib/X11/fonts/F3bitmaps but this directory is missing from the X font paths in /etc/X11/xorg.conf. After adding this directory emacs starts up and runs fine. So the problem seems to be the xorgconfig tool that doesn't know enough about font paths necessary for the Solaris X environment. I remember using this tool at install time because the keyboard layout was not ok, initially I think there wasn't any xorg.conf. - Michael -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
