Hi,

the new toy arrived. And big thanks to all who contributed to the fact the
OpenSolaris just works fine on that notebook. I installed SXCE nv_103 without
any problems (dual boot with the preinstalled vista)

Sound, graphics, WiFi etc just work out of the box.
The Marvell 88E8055 NIC just required Masayuki Murayama's myk driver to be
installed.
SD-Card seems to work with Garrett's driver (it attached fine), but I'll have
to test it when I have a SD Card at hand.

Though a few things remain open at the moment.
Suspend to ram seems to suspend the notebook ok (the power led turns from green
to blinking orange) but didn't wake up properly again. I'll have to check that.
(Any pointer what to check in detail?) The systemlog only had a message that it
suspended followed by the messages from the next boot.

Shouldn't the screensaver switch off the backlight of the display after a
while? It never put the display into power save mode.

The key for display brightness don't work so battery runtime is not where I
want it to be yet.
(How does one find out what events those key generate?)

The bios is really crippled. All one can change is the time and boot device
order. I couldn't even switch off the bootup numlock. That really annoys me and
I logged a service request with Sony. So far their support hasn't reacted at
all within a day.

When I logged into Opensolaris (I use GDM as display manager) it didn't set the
permissions on the sound and webcam device, so I had to fix that manually to
have those working as non-root user.

The fingerprint reader is really neat. I want that at some point ;-) (for now I
can remember and type my password ;-))

Again great work!

  Bernd
