A few days after I installed 2008 05 I found that after each log out/back in, it would take longer to log in. After about 2-3 times it would get stuck logging in until I rebooted. Eventually it got to a point where even after rebooting I would get a blank gray screen and a mouse pointer after logging in. I tried leaving it for hours and it never came to life. I would have to CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE to go back to login screen and try again. I left it for a few days then just before I was about to re-install the OS it started working again. I still noticed it became less reliable after logging out/in again.
Today I am unable to log into my computer. I get a blank screen and even after rebooting I still get the blank screen forever. I have seen other people mention similar problems with OpenSolaris 2008 05. Any ideas? This is making it hard for me to use OpenSolaris on my Sun Ultra 24 workstation as a development computer. I'm afraid that I'll get locked out of my computer every few days and have to reinstall the OS. FYI I do have Compiz turned on. Thanks, Ryan This message posted from opensolaris.org
