No worries; it's a pretty common misconception/typo :)

Songbird's MTP support currently uses the Windows Media SDK's (since our 
main demand for MTP support was for transfer of DRM tracks, which libmtp 
doesn't (and most likely can't) support)... hence it's tied pretty 
tightly to the Windows platform.

Building in Mac/Linux/OpenSolaris support utilising libmtp would be 
really cool - but would effectively be an entirely new add-on (since it 
wouldn't reuse much of the existing MTP add-on's code).  It's something 
we'd love to do, but is just not super high on our list of 
user-requested features to implement (yet).  (Plus I hope that someone 
from our external community will build it... ;-))
