Today I switched my computer on and the login screen, again, wouldn't let me in. I jumped into terminal to remove the .dmrc file, only to discover that it wasn't there. I went back to the login screen and this time it let me straight in. So it looks like simply logging into the terminal allows the login screen to work... OLD: After a recent dist-upgrade, I have been unable to login without first deleting the .dmrc file within my home directory.
