[Desktop-packages] [Bug 784194] Re: Embedded causes Gwibber to constantly open new browser tabs

Mon, 09 Apr 2012 10:27:03 -0700

Due to my installation being absolutely crippled by Bug #934670 and your
inability to respond or fix that bug, I have stopped using Gwibber.
However, I have given you the exact steps necessary to reproduce it
above. Post a note to Facebook with that exact content, and that should
trigger the bug if it still exists.

Title:
  Embedded <object> causes Gwibber to constantly open new browser tabs

Status in “gwibber” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  One of my Facebook friends posted a Note with the following contents:

  <object width="640" height="390"><param name="movie"

value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FnVD2BRamc4&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3";></param><param
  name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param
  name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed

src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FnVD2BRamc4&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3";
  type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true"
  allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></embed></object>

  The embedded <object> tags cause Gwibber to display a large blank
  rectangle, and open a new browser tab with this URL every single time
  the stream reloads. The result is an interrupted browser session as
  new tabs spontaneously open, one every refresh interval.
