Title:
The Hyper key has weird behavior in Unity
Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
I mapped a Hyper key on my laptop (onto right Alt using xmodmap with
"keycode 108 = Hyper_R"). I want to use this key for special purposes.
However, Unity recognize this key automatically, and have some weird
behavior:
(1) If I press hyper once quickly then release immediately, the
"keyboard shortcuts" layer appears. And it does not disappear unless I
press Win key to open dash.
(2) Seems Hyper-s is interpreted the same as Win-s (workspace
switcher). However, after using Hyper-s, the numbers (1,2,3,... on the
first, second, third ... apps) on the side panel does not disappear.
It will stay forever unless either I press win+number to switch
window, or I want to take a screenshot.
(3) Hyper+number is sometimes interpreted as Win+number, to open the
n-th application on the side panel. And sometimes it simply does
nothing.
My suggestions are as follows:
(1) I really hope I can use Hyper key for my own purpose. Thus please
stop interpreting hyper as Win.
(2) If it is intended to interpret hyper as Win, please leave an
option for us to customize.
(3) Even if no customization is possible and hyper==Win, please make
the behavior consistent instead of weird.
Thanks!
