Appears to have been a problem with conflicting keyboard shortcuts. I had been using Application Switcher in place of the default Unity switcher. Somehow in the upgrade the keyboard shortcuts got reset, so both were trying to respond to my Alt+Tab.
Disabling Application Switcher prevents the problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/989945 Title: rhythmbox causes system to run extremely slowly Status in “rhythmbox” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: A few minutes after starting to play music with rhythmbox, everything starts to go very slowly: - display does not update and refresh - mouse pointer freezes for ~30 seconds at a time - unable to switch applications or open others (so can't open terminal to see what is happening) or this is extremely delayed - music continues to play, but has a skipping effect - once I manage to get the mouse pointer to the right position and close rhythmbox, system returns to normal ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: rhythmbox 2.96-0ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-24.37-generic 3.2.14 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-24-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu6 Architecture: amd64 Date: Fri Apr 27 18:26:29 2012 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Release amd64 (20110427.1) SourcePackage: rhythmbox UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to precise on 2012-04-26 (1 days ago) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/989945/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
