It seems that this bug was filed on Ubuntu 10.10. It should be
noted that this version of Ubuntu is no longer supported, and
using a more recent version of Ubuntu is strongly recommended.
If you experience any problems in the latest release of the
Software Center which ships in Ubuntu 12.04, please do
continue to report new bugs.

The Ubuntu Software Center always displays "waiting for apt-get to
exit" instead of installing my selected packages. Apt-get is not
running because I restarted and came straight to the Ubuntu Software
Center.
