Title:
Firefox very slow, buggy, drop-down menus don't work

Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
After upgrading to 11.10 from 10.04, Firefox has caused many problems:

It freezes too often when opening a new tab or scrolling down the open
window. When it freezes everything else freezes and the entire OS
  crashes.

None of the menus even pop up or drop down. All I see is a grey little
box. Due to this problem, I can't even report a bug.

Let me know what I can do.

  1. Ubuntu 11.10
  2. Firefox 12.0+build1-0ubuntu0.11.10.1
  3. Expect the effective/efficient Firefox from Lucid Lynx for multi-purpose
use.
  4. Bug riddled version that just does not work.

  Thanks in advance.
