Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if
you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test
it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running
apport-collect 385994 and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.

Title:
Jaunty - get no dhcp lease, till i call dhclient manually

Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: dhcp

  Hello,

Jaunty(64bit) fails to get an IP-Address from DHCP (dhcp client
v3.1.1) at boot by the router of the cable network. The company
(cablecom, Mr. Cekic) says, it's not a modem or network problem. The
Cable Device is Cisco/Scientific Atlanta EPC2203. Windows XP works as
  my cable-phone does.

The case is similar to other reports. Forcing dhcp3-client to send on
eth0 the eth0 mac doesnt change the problem. Similar but not identical
  to #354471.

The only solution I found is keep calling /sbin/dhclient EVERY
15minutes (lease time is about 30min).

  Some Details:

+ifconfig eth0 right after boot: (not working)
  eth0 Link encap:Ethernet Hardware Adresse 00:30:1......f
            inet Adresse:192.168.0.93 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Maske:255.255.255.0
            inet6-Adresse: fe80......

+after calling dhclient manually (and repeating to do so every 900 seconds)
  eth0 Link encap:Ethernet Hardware Adresse 00:30:1.......f
            inet Adresse:84.7.....41 Bcast:255.255.255.255 Maske:255.255.248.0
            inet6-Adresse:........

  netstat -rn (working)
