Title:
Splash screens for applications inconsistent with Ubuntu Desktop

Status in One Hundred Paper Cuts:
  Invalid
Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
When launched, LibreOffice (default application) and GIMP (featured
application) are showing a splash screen which is very inconsistent
  with every other Ubuntu application.

Simplest solution is to just remove splash screens (which are
basically impossible to remove for the end user).

(This is my first bug report, so I apologize if I didn't file it
  correctly.)
