In Precise you can statically configure interfaces. Can this bug report now be closed?
-- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/279384 Title: NetworkManager does not provide a way for static IP configuration with DHCP-provided DNS, gateway etc. Status in NetworkManager: Confirmed Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: NetworkManager 0.7 (as found in Interpid Beta) does not provide a way for configuring a static IP for an interface, but get the DNS, gateway, time servers etc. from DHCP. This is a commonly found option in other operating systems (e.g. Mac OS X) where a user can opt for 'DHCP with manual address'. Such a configuration is required in cases where a static IP is needed, but cannot be configured by the DHCP server (viz. several Linksys home gateways whose software lacks static allocation functionality), but where all other data pertaining to the connection should be retrieved via DHCP.
