The standard triangular mouse pointer disappears and doesn't return
until you log out and back in again. The mouse is still working as
you can move to areas and click on things. If you mouse over an area
with a custom pointer, such as a link in XChat or a text area with an
I-beam, then the pointer appears.
I've seen this three times so far. It may be related to desktop
switching - I have jump to desktop hooked into Alt-1, Alt-2, etc. It
last occured on a fairly minimal setup where I had Firefox maximised
on one desktop and X-Chat left-maximised on desktop 2.
I also have Compiz Grid turned on and use Meta4-Left to left maximise.
