Bug description:
Unity's new Alt-Tab switcher does not show which apps have multiple
open windows.
I believe Gnome Shell's alt-tab switcher design is similar to Unity's
and works well. In their implementation, apps with multiple open
windows have a down arrow beneath their icon (screenshot 1). Switching
focus to one of these apps in the switcher (by using Tab or the arrow
keys) automatically opens a secondary window showing scaled, live
repesentations of the different windows without closing the original
alt-tab switcher window (screenshot 2). The keyboard focus stays in
the original alt-tab window so pressing left or right moves focus to
the next app in the switcher. Pressing down switches focus to the
individual windows and pressing up switches the focus back to the
original alt-tab window.
Try out Gnome Shell to see this in action.
