I confirm this bug, I also have a Lenovo Thinkpad x220t running Ubuntu 12.04. Unfortunately, I saw you assigned a low importance to this and I don't understand why. This is a major bug that prevents the full use of ubuntu 12.03 on tablets such as ours. In the absence of proper calibration, calling the laucher from the left edge is virtually impossible.
