NetworkManager doesn't support special characters in VPN password
Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Binary package hint: network-manager
if the password used to log-in onVPN service have special characters
the attempt to connect fails all the time (this is not VPN fault
because its work under windows)
