Googling this issue shows it's long been a problem for Banshee that seems to reappear intermittently.
It would be nice if a permanent "workaround" could be built in, enabling a user to specify a MusicBrainz URL or an album Catalog number that Banshee could then use to retrieve metadata. Then when Banshee can't retrieve this automatically, at least the user can do something to help. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to banshee in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/884159 Title: cddb not working Status in “banshee” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Hi, banshee does not query the cddb databases for CDs, it just says "Could not fetch track information" regards ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: banshee 2.0.1-1ubuntu1~natty2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-13.21-generic 3.0.6 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-13-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 Date: Mon Oct 31 11:39:19 2011 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release amd64 (20100427.1) ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/tcsh SourcePackage: banshee UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to oneiric on 2011-10-29 (1 days ago) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/banshee/+bug/884159/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
