Thanks for your effort to improve Ubuntu by reporting this observation.
Up to Ubuntu 12.10 the input method system chooser in language-selector
applies to the current language. Consequently I suspect that you also
changed the current language.

after install language specific packages using gnome-language-selector
ibus icon will not popup on panel

Bug description:
I installed language specific packages using gnome-language-selector.
And then ibus icon would not popup on panel any more when I login to my
desktop
I can fix it by reselect the keybord input method in gnome-language-selector
to "ibus"
