Same Problem here. It´s an regression after updating from 3.2.0-33-generic to 3.2.0-34-generic!
Workaround: start old 3.2.0-33-generic in grub bootloader manually and everything works fine or prepare the bootmenu (for example with "grub customizer") and set the "3.2.0-33-generic" as default -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1089448 Title: Problem with brightness control since last update Status in “gnome-power-manager” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: 1) Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS, Release 12.04. 2) Not applicable. 3) & 4) Since the last update of the system on December 10th, I cannot change the backlight britgthness of the notebook's screen. It was working fine until then. The notebook is a Samsung N150. It does not work using the slider in the System Configuration menu, and neither with the FN keys. With the FN keys shows a popup as if the computer were detecting the input, but the backlight brigthnnes does not change. By the way, with the FN key I am able to change the brigthness while Ubuntu is loading, until the login screen is shown. --- ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu15 Architecture: i386 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Release i386 (20110427.1) MarkForUpload: True Package: gnome-power-manager 3.4.0-0ubuntu1.1 PackageArchitecture: i386 ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=es_ES.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-34.53-generic 3.2.33 Tags: precise running-unity Uname: Linux 3.2.0-34-generic i686 UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to precise on 2012-05-18 (208 days ago) UserGroups: adm lpadmin sambashare sudo To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/1089448/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
