I can reproduce this bug on Ubuntu 12.10 (it was present in 12.04, too). Totem resets to the start of the playlist and freezes.

I can kill it using the the task bar though it takes a couple of seconds and reports that the programm is not reacting. If I try to shutdown my pc while totem freezes, the whole os freezes (but the desktop and icons remain visible) and only ctrl-alt-backspace helps...
