I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 sometime back on my HP Pavillion dv2000 laptop. This was originally having Windows VISTA which got formatted as part of Ubuntu installation. All of a sudden, I am not able hear any sound from the built-in speakers. I referred the below thread, https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting#Sound_Output_Troubleshooting, to resolve this issue but I am not able to hear the sound by running the below command sudo aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav Here are my system details., sudo lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS Release: 12.04 sudo aplay -l **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: CONEXANT Analog [CONEXANT Analog] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 1: Conexant Digital [Conexant Digital] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 lspci -v | grep -A7 -i "audio" 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02) Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device 30b2 Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 45 Memory at d4340000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K] Capabilities: <access denied> Kernel driver in use: snd_hda_intel Kernel modules: snd-hda-intel ALSA information can be found at, http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=569f844c5519cedd9ea778fa778d15e175be2586 I am not sure whether this is the correct forum to report this kind of issue but it would be greatly appreciated if someone can help me on this.
