Public bug reported:

LightDM at the moment only supports an icon for Network-Manager and
Network-Manager-Gnome, but has no support for network-menu or Wicd.
This can (and does) prevent Users from selecting a network for remote
login if they do not use the gnome packages.

Ubuntu 12.10
lightdm Installed: 1.4.0-0ubuntu2
