Title:
Graphics stopped working after update on a fresh 12.10 install

Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  I have a new PC:

  - Intel Core I5 2500K.
  - Intel Board DH67BL.
  - 4GBs RAM.
  - SATA II HDD.
  - Radeon HD 6850 Graphics.

Works fine under windows 7 64bits.

  Here's what I did:

  - I installed Ubuntu Desktop 12.10 without any problems.

  - Everything was working fine, I rebooted many times to be sure.

  - Then I saw I had 200+ pending updates so I decided to apply them,
the process took half hour, I reeboted and now everything I have is a
blinking screen, I can access a terminal by hitting Ctrl + Alt + F1
  but nothing else.

  - I repeted the process many time in both 64bits and 32bits editions
and I've never installed AMD's drivers, just the default ones.
