It sounds like either the MI_WAIT_FOR_EVENT hang or the page-flip verus
modeset race. I cannot tell with an error state, and both should be
fixed in updates.

Bug description:
  Running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on a Lenovo T520 with standard Intel HD
  Graphics 3000 and a docking station. Any time I switch to dual-
  monitors, the system freezes, and I see the cursor appear over a black
  screen on the laptop LCD screen.
