Title:
[Hardy] Selecting "Quit" causes Gnome to stop responding

Status in “gnome-session” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
When I choose "Quit" from the System menu or from a shortcut placed on
the panel, the system mostly stops responding. A hidden panel will not
hide, and the menus or shortcuts on both panels stop responding. (The
system monitor appears to keep working though.)

Ctrl-Alt-Backspace usually doesn't work, but when it does, I restart X
  to get out of it.

Otherwise I use Ctrl-Alt-F1 to log in using a tty screen and tell the
  system to reboot.
