I think I have the above workaround that dealt with the issue at hand. I cannot guarantee that as I have looked for nothing else (still working for me). you could always switch to html5 youtube via http://www.youtube.com/html5.
some information for my system ver 25.0.1364.160 ubuntu 13.04 (25.0.1364.160-0ubuntu3) For me, Flash is still way better than the html5 youtube atm, so I can understand everyones frustration. Oddly firefox is not affected.
