in my case removing ~/.config/monitors.xml and reconfiguring the
displays solved the problem.

Title:
  Cannot start any Mir server ... std::exception::what: Failed to set
  DRM crtc

Status in Mir:
  Confirmed
Status in “mesa” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  I can't seem to start any mir server any more. It always fails with:

  sudo bin/mir_demo_server
  ERROR:
/home/dan/bzr/mir/toy/src/server/graphics/gbm/gbm_display_buffer.cpp(135):
Throw in function mir::graphics::gbm::GBMDisplayBuffer::GBMDisplayBuffer(const
std::shared_ptr<mir::graphics::gbm::GBMPlatform>&, const
std::shared_ptr<mir::graphics::DisplayReport>&, const
std::vector<std::shared_ptr<mir::graphics::gbm::KMSOutput> >&,
mir::graphics::gbm::GBMSurfaceUPtr, const mir::geometry::Size&, EGLContext)
  Dynamic exception type:
boost::exception_detail::clone_impl<boost::exception_detail::error_info_injector<std::runtime_error>
 >
  std::exception::what: Failed to set DRM crtc

  Running it locally, or as root does not help. And there's no other Mir server
running. Only plain X:
  /usr/bin/X :0 -core -auth /var/run/lightdm/root/:0 -nolisten tcp vt8
-novtswitch
