running Mint 14 Cinnamon DE with exact same graphics card as VMC & using
Nouveau driver &
same AMD Athlon K8 X 2 Dual Core CPU

same problem occurs..screen freezes & computer locks up

have to do CTRL-ALT-F1 to get to terminal to reboot....

this doesn't always work...only way to get back up is to do hard power down
and then restart

also seen using Ubuntu 14.04

have NOT seen this using Ubuntu 12.04...yet

Title:
computer freeze trying to exit "gnome-control-center"

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-nouveau” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  1)
  Description: Ubuntu 13.10
  Release: 13.10
  ===
  2)
  gnome-control-center:
    Installed: 1:3.6.3-0ubuntu44

    Version table:

          100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
  3)
I expect to be able to exit System Settings (gnome-control-center), without
freezing the computer
  4) Clicking on the "X" to exit System Settings, the computer froze. No
response whatsoever. A power cycle was needed.

This happens using NOUVEAU driver only. If I install NVIDIA driver,
then this problem does not occur.
