Hi, made the tests... Can ping printer. Nmap shows open ports 9100 9101 9102 and 80
Cups snmp seems correct network socket://192.168.1.100:9100 "HP Officejet 4500 G510n-z" "Officejet 4500 G510n-z" "MFG:HP;MDL:Officejet 4500 G510n-z;CMD:MLC,PCL,PML,DW- PCL,DESKJET,DYN;1284.4DL:4d,4e,1;CLS:PRINTER;DES:CN547A;SN:CN0CKH82QS05HR;S:038000C484001021002c1f30000c2e8004e;J: ;Z:0102,05037dc10136a1,0600,0c0,0e00040000,0f00c00000,10000002000002,12000,143,150;" "" Cups dnssd gives DEBUG: sent=0, count=0 that I don't know how to interpret, but maybe is what expected lpinfo and avahi-browse all find the printer activating debugging, cups error log shows no error and merely stops being filled at a certain point Cups filters the data regularly. As a matter of fact, issues start when I try to send raw data to the printer lp -d <printer> -oraw <file> does not work either using pcl files that the printer should understand or text files. Job immediately goes in held status and if resumed remains in 'pending' status forever Sending stuff with nc does not work either nc -w1 <printer> 9100 < <file> where printer is my printer ip address and file is either a pcl or a text file hangs. >From these test, I would tend to think that the printer is broken, wasn't it for the fact that 1) It properly communicates with the computer when used as a scanner 2) When I borrowed a mac to make some tests, it printed wireless from it with no issues 3) status pages from the printer are all OK This is driving me crazy... I believe that at this point I should borrow another HP wireless printer to test... but I cannot find anywone to borrow it from. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to hplip in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1245162 Title: printing hangs reporting 'processing' Status in “hplip” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: On 2 different machines: 1) Kubuntu raring 64 bit 2) Kubuntu saucy 32 bit I do not seem to be able to print to an HP Officejet 4500 wireless connected via wifi using CUPS and HPLIP Specifically 1) The hp-toolbox finds the printer correctly. Furthermore I can scan from the machine, hence the wifi connection works 2) WIFI printing works from an Apple laptop, so the printer itself works 3) When I try to print anything (including the testpage), cups hangs reporting 'processing status' for the 1st page, as if it was unable to deliver it to the printer 4) While in this state I see the following processes stopped on my machine lp 3475 0.0 0.0 54380 2012 ? Simply, at some point the debug output stops (right after updating the subscriptions in etc) I would say that this is a gregression (due to some package update maybe?), since I was able to print from the raring machine till at most a couple of months ago.
