Title:
  pae kernel corrupts nvidia driver

Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
I have Ubuntu 12.04 and an NVidia graphics cars, I have the NVidia
drivers installed and it usually works fine (well, except for the
endless nvidia driver bugs). I have two screens configured.

Usually I can run "NVidia Settings" and set up screen resolutions,
  twin view, etc.

I installed the pae kernel with "apt-get install linux-pae-generic"
(or something like that), then I rebooted (with the pae kernel) and my
second monitor stopped working. So I tried to run NVidia Settings but
I got the message "You don't seem to be using an NVidia X Driver".

I rebooted with the old normal non-pae kernen and everything works as
  before.
