matteo sisti sette, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't
been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
  touchscreen not enabled by default

Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I've installed Ubuntu 12.04 on a very old computer that has a
  touchscreen (it's not a notebook, it's an almost-square one-block
heavy-as-shit computer with a built-in touchscreen and no keyboard).
The touchscreen is not working or enabled by default. It should, as it
should on EVERY computer that has a touchscreen.

Before I installed Ubuntu 12.04, there was Ubuntu 7.10 installed on
the same machine and it had the touchscreen working. That means
support for this touchscreen has been enabled for 6 years already. I
guess some additional package had been installed at that time, but
nowadays, any touchscreen should be detected and enabled by default
without having to install or setup anything.

And the worst thing is that there isn't any settings under System
Settings to enable or configure it.
