Chris McCray, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg-server REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. Starts and gets to X-windows login prompt. At any point from here on in, if I move the mouse cursor, X-windows crashes and restarts. I can see in the syslog file there's an error: gnome-session[3588]: Gdk-WARNING: gnome-session: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.#012 (you may have the latest syslog file without that in - it seems to have re-started a new one in the past 30 minutes or so, I would *facepalm* but my forehead is hurting). This problem started on Sunday Feb 12th - it did an automatic update of some stuff (I didn't take too much notice). One thing was it reckoned it could only do a partial update, but still seemed to be OK. Then prompted me to reboot and on reboot - bang this problem surfaced. I also dual-boot this machine to a 64-bit Ubuntu 11.04 install (and am refusing to take that through the upgrade to 11.10 until there's a satisfactory fix for this). Reading around some forums (for Gentoo, Redhat and Ubuntu) it seems this is in Gnome 3 - though other users have different but related problems (usually different combination of actions before X-windows crashes - some even get to use the machine and do stuff first).
